(Scroll down for video) An elderly man is dead after a headstone fell on his head while decorating his mother-in-law’s grave at a cemetery, police in Pennsylvania said.

Throop Police said that the 74-year-old man and his wife were decorating the grave when one of the tombstones in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery, fell on his head.

Ed Kubilus, who works at the cemetery, said that moist soil makes tombstone bases sink, causing them to tip over. Kubilus said that the couple visited the cemetery several times a year to decorate the family member’s tomb.

The couple recently moved their tomb to where the tombstone fell. Police and paramedics were on scene for a few hours on Monday, to remove the man’s body.

The victim was identified as Stephen Woytack. He was married to Lucy Woytack for 46 years.
