(Scroll down for video) Police in Mexico, were shocked by a vicious crime, where 15 police officers were killed and others were injured in a horrific attack.
Police said that the officers were ambushed by a group of suspected gang members on Monday.
This is the second major attack on security forces in the last month. The officers were traveling from Puerto Vallarta to Guadalajara, when they were ambushed along the Mascota-Las-Palmas highway.
The armed gang members blocked the officers, surrounded them and opened fire before burning their vehicles.
The attorney general’s office of Jalisco, confirmed that 15 police officers were killed and 5 were wounded in the attack.
The attack was one of the deadliest against security forces since President Enrique Pena Nieto took office and pledged to restore order after years of gang violence.
“The attack was very well planned and orchestrated with a military-style strategy,” said Raul Benitez, a security expert at Mexico’s National Autonomous University.
