39-year-old Liana Barrientos of the Bronx, is accused of being married to 10 men at once.
Barrientos married men from Egypt, Turkey, Georgia, Pakistan and other countries. One of the men was deported from the country after masking threats against the United States.
In 2002, Barrientos married six times. At this time, Barrientos is still married to four men.
When investigators asked Barrientos about her marriage to Vakhtang Dzneladze of Georgia, she admitted to having received money for the marriage.
As soon as the wedding bells stopped ringing, seven husbands applied for permanent resident in the country.
When some of them were denied, they filed for divorce and submitted new applications, stating that they were married to other women.
Barrientos was found in possession of numerous marriage certificates, which were obtained in several cities across the state.
Barrientos had stated in 2010 that she has only one husband.
She was charged with two counts of offering a false instrument for filing, each punishable by up to four years in prison if convicted.
