87-year-old woman bites flight attendant while lashing out at the crew

An Air Canada flight was forced to make an unscheduled stop in Ireland, after an elderly woman lashed out at the crew and bit a flight attendant, police in Canada said.

The flight to Toronto, Canada, from Frankfurt, Germany, was forced to make an emergency landing on Friday, after the 87-year-old woman assaulted the flight attendant.

She was taken off the plane at the airport in Shannon and arrested. A passenger on Flight AC 877, said that he saw the entire incident from his seat.

It took three passengers and members the crew to subdue the woman. The elderly woman was put in restraints until police took her off of the plane.

The woman was flying first class. The flight landed at Toronto’s Pearson Airport around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, after a delay of about four hours.

There were more than 200 people on board the plane.
