Son-in-law shoots armadillo before bullet bounces of it and hits his mother-in-law in the back while watching TV

(Scroll down for video) A mother-in-law was rushed to a hospital after a bullet hit her in the back while watching TV in her home, police in Georgia said.

Lee County Police said that 54-year-old Larry McElroy, was outside when he fired his 9 mm pistol at an armadillo.

The bullet killed the animal and bounced off of its shell. The bullet hit a fence, went through the back door of his mother-in-law’s house, through a couch and hit her in the back.

McElroy was about 100 meters away from the house at the time of the incident. Fortunately, 74-year-old Carol Johnson was not seriously injured.

She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was treated and released. No charges have been filed.
