Mark Ward Faville of Christiansburg, Virginia, killed himself in court after he was convicted of killing his wife.

A jury convicted Faville, 72, of voluntary manslaughter, a felony, which carries up to 10 years in prison.

Faville initially told investigators that his wife, Anne, had choked on a piece of chicken and died.

This claim was supported by the initial autopsy. Upon further investigation however, authorities determined that Faville choked his wife to death.

Investigators found evidence in the family’s house, showing that Anne wanted to leave her husband to be with her high school sweetheart named Chris Crowley.

The two daughters of Faville, told investigators that their father started acting strange after the death of their mother.

Both daughters testified against their father during the trial.

As Faville was taken from the courtroom to a waiting room, a deputy was heard shouting “drop it, drop it.” Faville used some weapon to kill himself.

The court was immediately placed on lockdown.

Police did not say what weapon Faville used to kill himself. They just said that he died of a self-inflicted wound.
