A woman was arrested on charges of endangering the welfare of a child after calling police to say that her daughter was bitten by a poisonous spider, police in Missouri said.
Festus Police said that they arrested 21-year-old Taylor Lynn Fast, after police found the dead body of her 17-month-old daughter Layla in her home.
Taylor called police on Sunday morning, saying that her daughter had been bitten by a spider, and she was unconscious.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they saw that Layla had serious injuries to the face and neck, and had bruises on most of her body.
The girl looked as if she was involved in a car accident. A three-year-old child who was also in the house, is being treated for a broken leg and bruises.
Police are looking for Fast’s boyfriend. Police plan to file more serious charges against the mother once they speak with the boyfriend.
