A scuba diver instructor was arrested on charges of sexual assault after allegedly groping women during lessons in the sea, police in India said.

Dhirendra Rawat of Murudeshwar, abused at least three women while scuba diving.

He was arrested twice and released on bail before returning to his job as an instructor despite being banned. The incident came to light after a tourist wrote about her nightmare with the suspect.

The woman told investigators that when she was about 30 feet underwater, the suspect held her oxygen tank and began to touch her inappropriately.

She tried to break free, but he forcefully held her back. The woman feared to protest further and allowed the abuse to continue because Rawat was in control of her oxygen tank.

When Rawat was confronted by another woman, he said that he was just playing around. In another incident, a woman went scuba diving with 3 of her friends.

At some point, Rawat led the woman away from her friends and groped her for about an hour.

The company that employs Rawat, Exploita Scuba Diving, Goa, said that it is looking into the allegations and they might fire him.
