(Scroll down for video) Students at a school in Georgia, were devastated to learn that their teacher died while two other students were injured.
The popular Lakeside City teacher was on her way to her high school prom when she died after two of her own students, who were on their way to the same prom, crashed into her car.
Police said that 33-year-old Leah O’Brien, a teacher at Lakeside High School in DeKalb County, was making a left turn, when students T-boned her Hyundai.
The 8-year-old daughter of O’Brien, who was with her in the car, is in the hospital in critical condition.
The teens suffered minor injures.
Since no one knew of the tragedy at the time, the prom continued as planned. Grief counselors were present at the Lakeside High School.
Along with counselors, a sign was posted in front of the school saying: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Ms. Leah O’Brien. The entire Viking nation is mourning the loss of one of our best.”
