A young soccer coach was severely beaten because he tried to break up a fight between two players, police in Spain said.
17-year-old Imaar Namid was beaten while coaching the Molins de Rei youth team, which is directed by Daniel Gavito.
He was attacked during a match against the Cornella de Llobregat team at a field near Barcelona.
A video of the attack shows angry parents whistling and insulting the coach before jumping over the barrier and beating him.
The coach was thrown to the ground and kicked numerous times as more parents joined the beat down. The attack began after Namid ran onto the field in order to break up a fight between two players.
The coach suffered bruises from the kicks, but is expected to recover. Namid said that he doubts he will return to coaching next season.
The coach decided not to press charges against the parents, police said. Officials of Molins de Rei condemned the attack on their coach.
