A teenage boy began a campaign to encourage other teens to bring sanitary pads to school.

Jose Garcia, 15, who lives in Miami, Florida, became an international sensation for inspiring other teens to bring sanitary pads to school.

Garcia said that the purpose of bringing sanitary napkins to class each day, is to help female classmates.

Garcia took to Instagram, to encourage other boys to do the same. His post quickly spread and received 21,000 likes.

He wrote: “To every boy that follows me and calls himself a man or simply a good human being, this is a petition for all of us to start bringing a couple of pads or tampons to school to help our girl friends.

“If you have a girlfriend or are friends with a girl, you should know that they do not always have tampons or pads on them, or that sometimes their period just hits them without notice and have a bit of a problem finding one.

“We should support them with this. After all, we don’t have to go trough all they do because of menstruation, so it’s just logical that we help them.”

He then had a message for the girls: “To all the girls who follow me. You are completely welcome to ask me for a pad at any time without receiving a negative response or a dirty look.

“We should all help each other like this, so you do not have to thank me at all.”

Hundreds of Instagram users praised his courage and kindness.
