A woman was arrested for robbing 2 people in an airplane.
26-year-old Melissa Perez of the Bronx, New York, who had just recorded a segment on the hit syndicated show “Judge Judy,” was charged with stealing from two people on their flight back to New York, police said.
Perez stole a handbag containing an iPad from a member of the flight crew, and a passport and a credit card from a sleeping passenger, Port Authority Police said.
Police said that Perez, hid the passport and Bank of America credit cards in her underwear. Police also allegedly found 10 grams of marijuana and an empty prescription pill bottle in her bra.
The high-flying heist took place aboard an American Airlines flight from Los Angeles, California, police said.
At one point during the six-hour flight, a member of the crew realized that her luggage was missing.
The pilot made an announcement, asking passengers to help search for the bag, which was found under a seat in row 13.
An iPad, which was missing from the bag, was found in the luggage of Perez, according to police.
At the same time, a 29-year-old passenger awoke to find that her passport and credit card had been taken from her purse. It was allegedly also found in the possession of Perez.
Perez was arrested and charged with grand larceny, possession of stolen property and drug possession after they landed at Kennedy Airport.
During questioning, Perez told police that she and a friend were flying back from the West Coast after being a plaintiff in front of “Judge Judy” Sheindlin and “lost her case,” police said.
A spokesperson for the “Judge Judy” show confirmed that the woman appeared before the judge, but did not want to comment any further.
