(Scroll down for video) A child rapist was seen on video walking out of a courthouse after wiggling himself out of handcuffs and putting on a judge’s coat.
Adrian Cruz was finally captured this week, after being on the run for many years.
Cruz is a convicted child rapist who escaped from the Court in Maricopa County, Arizona, in 2009. He was arrested in Mexico on Monday, according to the United States Marshals.
The 38-year-old man was convicted of sexually assaulting and impregnating the 9-year-old daughter of his girlfriend in 2005. He was sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole.
In 2009, Cruz was being tried for two unrelated cases of rape when he escaped from the court.
Police said that he slipped out of his handcuffs by using hair gel. He then walked into a judge’s chamber, took a leather coat and walked out of the courthouse without raising suspicion.
Police in the United States and Mexico, looked for Cruz. Police said that he was captured after Mexican police recognized him through his unique tattoos.
He is now waiting to be extradited to the United States.
