A man of the United Kingdom, was charged with murder after he killed his daughter’s baby.

The grandfather tricked his daughter into believing he was dying of cancer and then murdered her five-week-old baby.

45-year-old Mark Jones of Wales, was convicted of brutally attacking his granddaughter Amelia, while babysitting her.

The baby’s mother, 26-year-old Sarah, called emergency services after the father called and said that her baby was not breathing.

The Newport Crown Court heard from doctors that Amelia had suffered bleeding in the brain as well a fractured skull, ribs and leg.

The baby was rushed to the hospital, but she died at just 41 days old.

Jones, who denied murder, was a serial liar who could not be trusted, a court heard. He even tried to blame other children for the baby’s injuries.

The court heard how Jones tricked his daughter for more than a year into believing that he was seriously ill. He repeatedly called her while pretending to be his doctor.

On one occasion, he pretended to faint in front of her, and said that it was caused by the cancer medication.

Jones even hobbled around on a crutch and with what appeared to be plastic tubes in the chest.

Jones said that Amelia’s death was a tragic accident after he accidentally dropped her on the floor.

However, a jury did not believe him and he was found guilty of murder. He was jailed for life and will serve a minimum of 25 years in prison.
