(Scroll down for video) A father is behind bars for scamming his neighbors out of money by selling Girls Scouts cookies with his young daughter.
33-year-old Cody Patrick Wylie of Pennsylvania, used his 9-year-old daughter to raise money by selling Girl Scouts cookies, which he never ordered or delivered, police said.
Wylie was indicted on charges of theft and receiving stolen property. He lives in Westmoreland County, in Pittsburgh.
Wylie and his daughter went door to door to his neighbors and took orders for the cookies from approximately 100 people, police said. 8 of the people filed a criminal complaint after the cookies were not delivered as promised.
Wylie used his daughter to make the scam appear legitimate, and they collected $124 in orders, police said.
Police also said that he demanded cash upfront for the cookies, which is unusual. Police also said he sold the cookies long after the Girl Scouts take orders.
Wylie was arrested for theft and receiving stolen property.
