(Scroll down for video) A man who saved a dog from death, is facing jail after breaking a car window in order to release the trapped animal, police in Georgia said.
Athens Police said that they arrested Michael Hammons on charges of criminal trespassing after freeing the small puppy from a hot Ford Mustang that was parked outside a store.
Witnesses said that while a group of shoppers waited for the police to arrive to free the dog, Hammons took action and broke the window.
Police said that the woman who owns the car, insisted on arresting Hammons. The woman was ticketed for leaving the dog in the hot car.
The law allows an individual to break a window to save a child in danger, but not a pet. Animal rights activists are working to change the law.
Hammons faces up to one year in jail if convicted.
