A woman was buried alive by a bear while walking in the woods with a friend.
55-year-old Natalya Pasternak of Russia, is fighting for her life at a hospital after being buried alive by the bear, which may have been saving her for the next meal.
Pasternak was attacked and seriously injured when the bear pounced on her. Pasternak, a mother of two children and a worker at the post office, was collecting birch sap in a forest near Tynda in Amur, with a friend when the attack occurred.
Police released a photo of her laying in the pile of foliage where the bear buried her. Bloody claws are visible on her arms.
Pasternak was saved after her friend escaped and called for help.
The bear apparently thought the woman was dead and tried to hide its prey for the next meal.
Rescue workers arrived and shot the four-year-old bear when it came towards them. They then rescued the woman and took her to the hospital, where she is now fighting for her life.
