(Scroll down for video) A woman was arrested after she falsely claimed to have cancer to get a free late term abortion.
The woman from Arizona, faked cancer to get medicare to pay $6,000 for her late term abortion.
Chalice Zeitner, 29, is accused of forging a doctor’s note, stating that she was diagnosed with terminal sarcoma.
In the doctor’s note, she wrote that she was in the second trimester of pregnancy, which is endangering her life.
Medicaid does not pay for abortions unless the mother’s health is at risk.
Zeitner had the abortion done. Her baby was born alive and died 20 minutes later. She then fled to Georgia, with her 10-year-old daughter.
She changed her name and went by the name Al Serkez. Medicaid learned that they had been defrauded after the doctor who allegedly wrote the note, said that he never treated the woman.
She was arrested in Georgia and she will be extradited to Arizona, where she faces charges of theft, fraud, forgery and identity theft.
Her daughter was placed in the custody of a family member.
