(Scroll down for video) A woman is devastated over the loss of her daughter, who was killed by her father who was recently awarded custody.
After 49-year-old John Jonas and his wife Karina Jonas divorced, the couple went to court to fight for custody of their 11-year-old daughter.
The Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court judge in Virginia, believed that John Jonas, as an Army Lieutenant Colonel, could provide better for their daughter with a higher standard of care then her mother, Karina Jonas, who is originally from Uzbekistan.
The judge granted the father full custody of his daughter Tasha Jonas.
As with most military service members, John Jonas was eventually ordered to FT. Knox and moved with Tasha to Vine Grove, Kentucky.
Karina Jones continued to fight for custody of their daughter. The couple was supposed to go to a court hearing in 2 months, when Tasha would have been 12 years old and was finally able to speak in court and get the right to choose with who she wants to live.
Unfortunately, that day will never come, police said that John Jonas shot his 11-year-old daughter and then turned the gun on himself.
The bodies of the father and daughter were found laying next to each other.
