A man was arrested on charges of insulting a police officer for calling him a frying pan, police in Malta said.
Now, 37-year-old Patrick Sciberras of St. Paul’s Bay, has been fined 850 euros ($965) for calling the police officer a frying pan.
Sciberras was charged with insulting a police officer in the line of duty, offending public morals with words or gestures, giving false information to the police, breaching the peace and relapse.
Sciberras told the court that he had consumed a few alcoholic drinks at a bar on the same day. While waiting to be picked up at a bus stop by a friend, a police motorcycle drove past him.
Sciberras decided to shout at the officer. The defendant’s attorney called the incident an overreaction. The defendant apologized and said that he took back everything that could have been perceived as an insult.
