(Scroll down for video) A prison official was charged with assault after allegedly shooting at children who were playing ball on church grounds, police in Tennessee said.
The Oneida Police Department said that 58-year-old Michael Wilson, a lieutenant at the Scott County Jail, was accused of shooting at 20 children who were playing volleyball at The Church of God on Paintrock Road around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
A caller told the police dispatcher that several children were hit by the BB gun. None of the children were taken to a hospital, but they had welts on their backs and legs.
Wilson said that he was in bed and did not shoot any weapon. Police said that Wilson appeared to be intoxicated. The children confirmed that they saw Wilson shooting the weapon at them.
Wilson has also been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the case.
