A man was arrested on charges of abusing a police animal after allegedly kicking a police dog while holding a bottle of alcohol, police in Pennsylvania said.

The Falls Township Police Department said that they arrested 37-year-old Michael Hutcheon of Torresdale, after being accused of starting a fight in a bar.

He was also accused of firing an automatic weapon in the air, and then attacking a police K-9 unit before being arrested near the Pennsbury High School early on Thursday.

The fight broke at the Band Box Bar around 1:00 a.m. The suspect was found hiding behind several houses on Amelia Drive.

He was holding a baseball bat and a bottle of whiskey. When the K-9 went to investigate, he kicked the dog several times. Hutcheon was charged with making terrorist threats, resisting arrest and taunting a police animal.
