A man was arrested, charged and convicted of assault after stabbing a club doorman because the bartender served him a bad tasting drink, prosecutors in California said.

Now, 36-year-old Jovan Felix of Sacramento, has been sentenced to serve 28 years in prison.

Felix was convicted by a jury of assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the police investigation, Felix became angry after he felt that he received poor service from the waiters in the club.

Felix was offered by the bartenders free drinks, but he rejected them and made threats as he was leaving. Felix returned to Level Up around 2:00 a.m., along with his friend.

The friend jumped on one waiter from behind, hitting the bartender on the back of the head. Felix, who was armed with a knife, chased the doorman and stabbed him in the abdomen.

Felix and his friend fled from the scene before police arrived. The doorman was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for three weeks and released.
