A man was arrested on charges of animal cruelty after allegedly forcing his pet lizard to smoke marijuana, prosecutors in Illinois said.
Now, a judge has ruled that the man of Chicago, is not guilty of animal cruelty despite seeing a video of him smoking marijuana with his chameleon.
Judge Robert Kuzas ruled on Wednesday, that the behavior of 40-year-old Bruce Blunt was misplaced and immature, but not criminal behavior.
Blunt has posted a video of himself smoking marijuana on Facebook. In the video, he is seen putting the joint into the mouth of his pet named Binna.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) filed a complaint with the police after the video went viral. Blunt said that he blew smoke into the mouth of the chameleon because it sometimes seemed to calm the reptile.
His pet was seized and handed over to the custody of animal control officers.
