A mother was arrested on charges of murder after allegedly killing her disabled daughter so that she shouldn’t have to live alone when she dies, police in Japan said.
Sapporo Police said that they have arrested 64-year-old Kazuko Sato, after being accused of stabbing 42-year-old Yukiko in her neck on Wednesday morning.
The victim, who suffered mental disabilities, was found dead in her apartment. According to the police investigation, after killing her daughter, Kazuko Sato called her sister to confess to the murder.
The suspect’s sister called the police. Police went looking for Kazuko Sato, and they found her about an hour later in her car. Police said that the suspect stabbed herself in the neck, but the wounds were non life threatening.
Kazuko Sato told police that she felt bad for her disabled, and she didn’t want her to live alone after she dies.
