A man died after his immune system rejected food grade oil that he injected into his chest to look good for a beauty contest, police in Mexico said.
Juan Manuel Sanchez of Hunucma, also known as Bebo, tried to win the beauty contest by injecting oil in his chest to plump up his breasts.
He told doctors at a hospital that he did so after receiving advice from his friends. After the injections, Sanchez immediately fell ill.
His friends gave him Valium, with the hope of relieving the intense pain, but it knocked him unconscious.
At 5:00 a.m. the following day, they called an ambulance. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died 8 days later. Doctors said that his body had rejected the food oil, which had spread to his lungs and brain.
Police launched an investigation into the incident, but so far, no arrests have been made.
