(Scroll down for video) A woman who was convicted of assault, was given an unusual punishment in court, prosecutors in Ohio said.
The judge in Painesville, ordered the victim to pepper spray the defendant in court in order to give him a feeling of revenge.
Diamond Gaston was given the choice to choose between jail time and pepper spray. She chose pepper spray.
In the end however, the liquid used was only saline as the judge only attempted to scare the woman without actually harming her.
According to the police investigation, a fight broke out at a Burger King, where the victim was pepper sprayed by Gaston.
Video surveillance of the courtroom, showed the man pointing the pepper spray can at the woman’s face before he sprayed her.
Before the punishment was carried out, the judge was sprayed in the eyes three times to ensure that the mixture of saline will not hurt the woman.
The judge said that Gaston learned her lesson.
