(Scroll down for video) A captain of a fishing boat died during a tussle with a fish he was trying to catch.
47-year-old Randy Llanes of Hawaii, was killed on Friday, after he was impaled by the bill of the fish, police said.
Witnesses at the Honokohau Harbor in Kailua-Kona, said that Llanes saw the fish and jumped into the water to catch it.
The fish was identified as a swordfish, which is about 3 feet long with a bill of about 3 feet. It weighed about 40 pounds, the Department of Land and Natural Resources said in a statement.
After jumping into the water, the fish stabbed Llanes in the chest with its bill. Firefighters were called after Llanes was seen floating in the water.
The firefighters tried to resuscitate Llanes. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
