Police have launched a criminal case against a mayor in Russia, after being accused of pulling the ears of a disabled boy, police in Russia said.
Now, the mayor of Roshal, Alexei Artuykhin, settled the case out of court with the 10-year-old boy’s family.
According to the police investigation, the incident occurred after the victim had an argument with the mayor’s 6-year-old son while playing at a playground.
As the two boys were fighting, Artuykhin intervened, grabbing the disabled 10-year-old boy by the ears before pushing and beating him.
Officials have confirmed that Artuykhin had reached an agreement with the child’s family, and that the police will not pursue their case against him.
The specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
