A police sergeant was arrested on charges of bribery after allegedly letting a criminal walk free in exchange for having sex with a prostitute, police in Japan said.
Nara Police said that they have arrested 44-year-old Yoshitaka Nakanishi, after being accused of accepting sexual services in exchange for not detaining a driver who was speeding and driving without a license.
The incident began when Nakanishi arrived at the scene of an accident caused by 24-year-old Ryo Hori. Hori is the manager of a prostitution business.
Nakanishi filed false documents, indicating that one of the male employees of Hori was driving the vehicle. Nakanishi has admitted to covering up the role of Hori in the accident.
Just before the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a wall, the sergeant had been pursuing him for exceeding the legal speed limit.
Several days after the incident, Hori provided Nakanishi with a cash payment and sex with prostitute. The sergeant faces charges of bribery and filing a false police report.
