A woman told her boyfriend that two men raped her after it took them too long to give her a ride home, prosecutors in the United Kingdom said.
Now, 22-year-old Comfort Yinusa has been convicted of perverting the course of justice after accusing the two men she met at a bar in London of rape.
According to the police investigation, when one of the men agreed to give her a ride home, she decided to wait at a McDonald’s until he brings his car.
After waiting 45 minutes, Yinusa became angry.
She called her boyfriend to take her home instead. On the way home, Yinusa told her boyfriend that she had been raped by the two men.
They called the police and filed a complaint. The police cordoned off the area and arrested the men, who spent 18 hours in custody.
Surveillance video at the McDonald’s showed the woman joking with the men, and exchanging telephone numbers. Yinusa refused a medical examination and did not cooperate with the investigation.
After six weeks, the charges against the two men were dropped. Yinusa said that she was drunk and high on cocaine at the time of the rape allegation.
Yinusa was charged with perverting the course of justice. She pleaded guilty on Friday.
