(Scroll down for video) Police officer killed and blew up a newborn moose after its mother was found dead nearby, police in Montana said.
Josh Hohm of Bozeman, said that when he went camping on Monday, a newborn moose walked up to him.
Hohm searched for its mother, but he found it dead along with the newborn’s twin. They died during birth. Hohm took pictures with the moose and called officials for help.
An official from the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, killed the moose. The U.S. Forest Service then used explosives to get rid of the bodies of the three moose.
Hohm is outraged, but officials said that they followed the protocol. Hohm said that he expected officials to find a new home for the moose and not kill it.
Officials said that the dead mother moose had a parasite that infects deer and elk, but does not harm humans.
