Man breaks into woman’s home to cook himself a potato and clean up fallen leaves

A woman was shocked to find a stranger in her kitchen as he was busy cooking a potato in her microwave, police in New Mexico said.

Hobbs Police said that 45-year-old Patrick Lynn Waits, entered the home through an open door and stole the woman’s car keys.

The surprised homeowner found him baking a potato and raking leaves. The woman told investigators that she awoke to noise in the kitchen on Tuesday.

When she entered the kitchen to investigate, she found Waits cleaning a counter top and baking the potato in the microwave oven.

She asked him what he was doing there, and he said that he preparing a potato for himself. When she told him to leave, Waits walked out and left his potato in the microwave.

Waits then began raking leaves in the front yard. The woman called the police, who arrived at the scene as Waits was raking leaves.

He was stumbling when walking and he had slurred speech, police officers who responded to the scene said. Waits was arrested on charges of burglary and unlawful entry.
