(Scroll down for video) A former congressional candidate who wanted to put his rival out of business, was arrested on charges of commercial obstruction after being caught taking free brochures from a hotel, police in Utah said.
Wasatch County Police said that 38-year-old Scott Jay Eckersley was seen entering the Zermatt Resort in Midway, and removing all free tourist brochures.
Eckersley then placed his own brochures on display. The brochures were later found discarded and destroyed in a nearby garbage can.
Surveillance video helped investigators identify Eckersley. He was booked into the Wasatch County jail.
Five years ago, Eckersley launched a campaign for the U.S. House, looking to win the seventh congressional district of Missouri.
Eckersley lost to his opponent by a wide margin.
