Four children were found unconscious after drinking poison.

The children of China, have died from the poison after their parents abandoned them, leaving them to fend for themselves, according to police.

The family, who lived in Bijie Guizhou, consisted of three girls and a boy between the ages of 5 to 13. On Tuesday, the four children were taken to a hospital, where doctors were unable to save them.

The children’s mother, Ren Xifen, said that she left the home because her husband constantly abused her.

Xifen said that she left the home after being treated at a hospital for injuries caused by her husband.

The father, Zhang Fangqi, cared for the children, until he left them to find work. The young children had to take care of each other.

The father said that he left food for the children and he sent them money through a bank account. Relatives would check on the children from time to time.

However, the children who were left alone and often missed school, found it hard to cope by themselves.

Police vowed to punish officials who are lax in providing assistance to families with similar situations. Several officials have reportedly been suspended or removed from their positions over the death of the 4 young children.

Sadly, many children are abandoned by their parents and left in the care of relatives so they can look for better paying jobs.
