A married woman is being humiliated after she was gang raped.

The 23-year-old mother of two children in India, was kidnapped before being repeatedly raped by more than five men over several months.

When the traumatized victim was finally released and returned home, she learned that she was pregnant.

She turned to the court in her hometown of Gujrat for permission to have an abortion, but her request was denied by the Gujarat High Court, because she was too advanced in her pregnancy.

Her husband, who chose to stand by her, became an outcast, and his own family and in-laws refuse to talk to him.

The man refused to leave his wife as she is the mother to their 2 children despite the fact that she is pregnant with another man’s baby.

The courts ordered the woman to undergo “purification tests.” The process includes asking the victim a series of questions to determine if she is telling the truth when saying that she was gang raped.

The questioning is done while balancing a 22 pound stone on the head.

If the woman passes the purification test then no-one can point fingers or banish her and her family. However, if the woman fails the test, she might get ostracized from the community and her family is shamed.

The ritual is being supported by the woman’s parents who are concerned about what will happen to them when the baby is born.

“I have two children who are still single. If she delivers the baby nobody will want to marry them,” the victim’s mother said.
