Seargent Phillip Seidle, 51, of Neptune, is accused of chasing his former wife off a road on Tuesday, before shooting her at close range with his service weapon.
His 7-year-old daughter was sitting in her father’s car as he shot his former wife. During the shooting, Phillip was saying that he was tired of going to court about child support.
After the shooting, Phillip pointed the gun at his head for about 30 minutes until police were able to persuade him to surrender.
Tamara Seidle, 51, was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died. The couple divorced last month. They have 9 children, aged between 7 and 24.
Phillip has served on the police force for 22 years. Phillip was booked into jail, and his bail was set at $2,000,000.
