24-hour McDonald’s locations in Hong Kong, are being used by homeless as a place to rest during nights.
Some of the poorest residents of the city are now spending their nights in one of the 235 McDonald’s restaurants, and the employees say that they are powerless to stop them.
Images uploaded the Internet, show how many people are sleeping in the fast food restaurants in a city where it is very expensive to buy a property.
Customers entering a McDonald’s between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., are likely to find that the homeless are sleeping on chairs. Some homeless are even drinking alcohol, smoking and washing up in the bathrooms in some locations.
When asked why they spend their nights at McDonald’s, the most common response was that they simply could not afford to live in apartments as the cost is too high.
Employees complained of bad odors left behind by the homeless. The staff said that they were helpless because the homeless keep coming back despite being sent away.
