(Scroll down for video) A woman’s 18th wedding anniversary celebration turned into a nightmare after a dolphin jumped into her boat and attacked her family, police in California said.

Orange County police said that the dolphin broke the foot of Chrissie Frickman and slapped her daughter in the face after jumping into their boat during a ride in the ocean.

Frickman was celebrating her 18th wedding anniversary with her husband Dirk and her two children. After the dolphin jumped onto the boat, Dirk pulled out his wife’s legs from underneath it.

The dolphin weighed about 350 pounds. He called police while driving to shore, splashing water on the dolphin to keep it alive.

Dirk Frickman and two workers helped pull the dolphin out of the boat with a rope before releasing it back into the water. The dolphin, which was not seriously injured, swam away.

It suffered some cuts to its nose and tail. Chrissie Frickman is still recovering at a hospital after undergoing five hours of surgery on her foot.

The girl was not injured despite being slapped in the face by the dolphin.
