(Scroll down for video) A robot that was programmed to grab things and deliver them at a car production plant, grabbed a worker and crushed him to death against a wall, police in Germany said.

The incident unfolded at the Volkswagen production plant in Baunatal on Monday.

The 22-year-old unidentified man was part of a team that was installing the robot. According to the police investigation, the robot suddenly grabbed the worker and crushed against a wall.

The robot was programmed to grab car parts and move them around the production plant. Another worker was present at the facility when the incident occurred, but was not hurt.

The company believes that human error is responsible for the incident and not the robot. Police launched an investigation into the incident, but so far, no arrests have been made.
