(Scroll down for video) A police officer was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance after allegedly being caught with meth, police in New Mexico said.
Roswell police said that they have arrested 22-year-old Christopher Ray Moreno, after falsely accusing an employee of a Sonic restaurant of spitting on his drink.
Moreno resigned from the police department on Tuesday night. On Wednesday night, he was charged with false reporting, malicious criminal prosecution and tampering with evidence.
According to the police investigation, Moreno had a personal dispute with the restaurant employee. Police found methamphetamine, 19 syringes, drug pipes and a BB gun in Moreno’s car.
While officers searched Moreno’s home, they found a stolen license plate.
Moreno was charged with possession of a controlled substance, paraphernalia possession, theft and receiving stolen property.
He was booked into the Chaves County jail and his bail was set at $5,000.
