Sichuan police said that the 2-year-old boy was bitten by a white tiger, which was being held in captivity.

The incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon as the boy’s family was visiting the park. According to the police investigation, the boy came to visit the park along with three adults around 12:00 p.m.

During the visit, the child placed his right hand into the cage through a ventilation device. The white tiger immediately sunk its teeth deep into the boy’s arm just below the elbow.

After the tiger opened its mouth, the boy’s family quickly pulled him away from the enclosure. The child was rushed to the People’s Hospital in Yan’an, where doctors performed surgery.

The doctors said that the purpose of the surgery was to clean the boy’s wound as they were unable to reattach his hand.
