(Scroll down for video) A man is facing 5 years in prison after his daughter ratted him out to police.
31-year-old Scott Birk was shopping at Walmart with his 6-year-old daughter when he decided to shoplift, police in Wisconsin said.
Police said that Birk of New Berlin, was caught on surveillance video stealing merchandise from the store. Loss prevention officers followed Brik, and heard his daughter asking him to stop stealing.
The surveillance video from the Walmart store showed Birk in the jewelry department. Security officers said that he broke a jewelry case, took some earrings and put it on his ears.
He then went to the toy isle, stole some toys and placed it into his pants. A security guard who kept a close eye on Brik, heard his 6-year-old daughter asking him several times to stop breaking into jewelry cases.
He was arrested as he left the store, but his daughter was not finished. Police officers asked Birk how he got to the store because he does not have a driver’s license.
He told them he walked. However, according to the police report, his daughter corrected him again, telling police that he drove to the store, pointing to a car in the parking lot.
Birk is accused of theft, which is a misdemeanor, but because of a previous drug conviction, he faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
