A man was arrested, charged and convicted of causing bodily harm after drugging his girlfriend in order to be able to play video games with his friend throughout the night, prosecutors in Germany said.

Now, a court in Rhine-Westphalia, sentenced the 23-year-old unidentified man to a fine of 500 euros ($553) after he admitted to giving his girlfriend a sedative so he could continue playing video games with a friend.

According to the police investigation, the man was playing video games with his friend when his girlfriend came home from work around 10:00 p.m.

After ten hours at work, she had been planning on having a quiet night, but instead, she was disturbed by the sound of machine guns and computerized commentators.

The boyfriend gave her a tea to drink and she fell asleep. The woman slept until 12:00 p.m. the next day, after drinking the drugged tea.

When she got up and went to work, she was dozing off again. When she told her boyfriend about her sleepiness, he admitted to giving her drugs.

The judge convicted him of premeditated physical harm, and sentenced the man to pay a fine of 500 euros ($553).
