A man was jailed after he killed a teen for allegedly flirting with his wife.
The jealous man shot the teenager in Brooklyn, New York, for flirting with his wife.
Now, Lawrence Jones has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison on Friday, for the death of 18-year-old Isaiah Roberts.
Jones was convicted of the premeditated murder of Roberts, who was lured to Howard Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant before he was killed.
Jones had another person lured Roberts to the area. The two began arguing after Jones accused the teen of flirting with his wife on a bus.
“Jones killed this young man for no other reason than he believed that he was disrespected by the teen, who allegedly flirted with his wife on a bus before this incident,” said Judge Michael Gary.
The men got into a heated argument when Jones took out a weapon. When Roberts saw the weapon, he tried to escape. As he ran away, the teen was shot in the back.
Roberts, who was an immigrant from Trinidad, was pursuing a career in architecture.
Jones maintained his innocence and claims that the prosecutor has evidence to prove that a witness who testified at the trial retracted his testimony.
However, a jury found him guilty and he was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
