(Scroll down for video) A couple was happy to be reunited with their stolen car, but they were even more delighted to learn that it was in better shape than when it was stolen.

Shane and Chelsea Peters of Livingston, Texas, were at a loss when their 2004 Dodge Durango was stolen. They recently found the car and realized that the thief had made several repairs.

The silver van was not working when it was stolen. The engine could be started only with a screwdriver. In addition, the deer hit the car and dented it and a window was missing.

Despite its bad condition, the couple used the vehicle to commute to work.

One day, the van broke down along Highway 59 in Cleveland, Ohio. Shane got out and went to get a help. When he returned, the van was gone.

More than a month later, Chelsea spotted her dented car leaving a gas station. She began following the car and she called police.

After a short pursuit, police nabbed the thief and the car was returned to its owners.

To their surprise, the thief had repaired the mechanical problems, which caused the vehicle to stall and installed three new tires. Police found about 30 small bags of drugs in the center console.

The thief was arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle and drug possession.
