A mother is dead after she desperately tried to break up a fight and was slammed into the ground, which caused her to suffer a brain injury, police in Australia said.
Queensland police said that 55-year-old Ann Hay, fell into a coma when she arrived home with her family after the fight outside the Aramac Hotel on Saturday night.
According to the police investigation, Hay became involved in the altercation between her husband David, 56, and her son.
During the scuffle, one of the men punched her before hitting her head on the ground, which led to a brain injury. She managed to get up from the ground and go home, but fell into a coma shortly thereafter.
She was taken to the Barcaldine Hospital before being transferred to Townsville, where she died. Police said there was no surveillance video of the fight and no witnesses.
The father and son were questioned by police, but so far, no arrests have been made.
