An elderly man was arrested on a charge of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing his wife who suffers from dementia, police in Japan said.
Kanagawa police said that they have arrested 83 -year-old Kyuji Takahashi, after being accused of stabbing 81-year-old Setsuko Takahashi because he was tired of taking care of her.
According to the police investigation, Kyuji Takahashi stabbed his wife in the chest at their apartment around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.
He then called police to say that he just killed his wife. Police officers who arrived at the scene, found Setsuko Takahashi bleeding from a stab wound to the chest.
She was taken to a hospital and is said to be in stable condition. The suspect was arrested at the scene, and was charged with one count of attempted murder.
During questioning, Kyuji Takahashi told police that his wife suffers from dementia and he got tired of taking care of her.
