A man was arrested for locking his grandmother out of his home in the rain.
Police arrested the man in Gainesville, Florida, after he was accused of locking his grandmother out of the home in heavy rain, police said.
19-year-old George Cudjo was charged with elder abuse for an incident that began on Thursday night.
According to the Gainesville Police, the teen’s mother and grandmother got into a dispute that led to the arrest of his mother.
The arrest angered Cudjo, and at some point, Cudjo forced his 76-year-old grandmother out of the home and locked the door, police said.
The grandmother has numerous health problems. Police said that neighbors saw the elderly woman outside in the rain and led her to a dry spot.
Then they tried to convince Cudjo to allow her back into the home. He allegedly refused, so the neighbors called the police.
Police repeatedly asked Cudjo to allow his grandmother to get back into the house, but he refused.
Cudjo finally opened the door, but did not obey police orders to move so that his grandmother could enter.
Cudjo was arrested on charges of elder abuse and resisting an officer.
