Police arrested three people after a deadly shooting at wedding at which the father of the groom ordered the band to stop playing music, police in India said.
Sakoti police said that the incident unfolded on Friday night, when a group of drunk guests fatally shot the groom’s father after ordering the band to stop playing Bollywood songs.
According to the police investigation, the youths told the band members to continue playing music as they still wanted to dance.
However, Vishwas Ram, the father of the groom, ordered them to stop, citing the late hour of the night. A man identified as Teluram, got into a heated argument with Ram.
When the groom’s family gathered in support of Ram, one of the youths allegedly pulled a gun and ordered the band members to play the music of their choice.
Ram asked the youths to leave the venue of the wedding immediately. Feeling humiliated, one of the youths allegedly shot the groom’s father.
Ram was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. Police arrested Teluram, Madanpal and Sumit Singh on a charge with murder.
